Lacey and Larkin worried about the state of human rights protection under President Trump

President Donald Trump is proving with each day in office why he does not deserve to be the president of the United States. Trump has all behaviors that one would never wish for in a man who is expected to be the head of a country and the unifying factor for that case.

It is wrong to have a racist lead a country like it is happening now. The president has clear hate for some races and has even gone to the media to speak ill about people of some origin. Trump believes that there are people who should not be allowed to live in the United States because that is not their origin. Learn more about Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey: and

President Trump last year took an action that shocked human rights activists and the people of Maricopa County in Arizona. He pardoned the former sheriff of the county Joe Arpaio who has been accused by many people of committing injustices to immigrants in his county. Joe Arpaio was known for torturing immigrants because they were in the country illegally.

He would violate their human rights and would hear none of the talks by the human rights groups or even the courts which had warned him severally of committing human rights violation. Joe Arpaio considered himself to be the law. He did not care about what would happen as long as he had ejected all immigrants especially the Latinos from the country.

Joe Arpaio was a rogue officer. He used the anti-immigration campaign to retain power for a long time. Joe Arpaio knew that a huge number of natives in the county were against immigration. He used this as the opportunity to woo them into accepting his leadership. He was in power for 24 years after he won the seat of the sheriff for six times. Many nationalists occupy the county. These are people who believed that what he was doing was rights. He was considered a hero for his stern action against immigrants. What these people failed to notice is that the process of ejecting immigrants from the county was totally against the law and was done in a manner that did not uphold the rights of the immigrants. Joe Arpaio would deploy his officers for a door to door searches for immigrants. He had established concentration camps which were used to torture those who would be caught with no documents.

The actions of Joe Arpaio drew the attention of many human rights activists in the country who wanted the matter addressed by the government. It was wrong for the government and the judicial system to remain silent as thousands of people were tortured because they were immigrants.

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin, who were part of the people who suffered under the regime of Joe Arpaio, are some of the people who decided to take action against him.

They took Arpaio in court for violation of their rights, and they were compensated. The case also resulted in charges with which he was found guilty of in July last. Lacey and Larkin are worried that Trump is taking the country backward with the pardon of Arpaio.
